The 360 Precision BR1 is a 16-inch .223 Wylde semi-automatic AR-15 rifle and the most affordable firearm in the 360 Precision lineup at $1,295. It is built on the same billet 7075-T6 aluminum platform used across every 360 Precision rifle, with the same American-made CNC machining, the same ambidextrous controls, and the same limited lifetime warranty. The difference between the BR1 and the higher-priced Recon Rifle is the component tier, not the build quality.

The BR1 uses a Chrome Moly nitride-finished barrel with a 1:8 twist and medium contour, a mil-spec 4.5 lb trigger, and an M-16 Black Nitride BCG. These are proven, reliable components used across thousands of duty and defensive rifles. They are not match-grade, but they are accurate, durable, and will outlast most shooters’ ability to wear them out. The .223 Wylde chamber safely fires both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition, giving you access to the widest range of available rifle ammo on the market.

What makes the BR1 different from a $500 to $800 AR-15 is not one single component. It is the platform underneath. The billet 7075-T6 HD15 Gen2 ambidextrous lower receiver with integrated tension screw, flared magwell, and threaded bolt catch pin. The billet upper receiver machined to tolerances that eliminate receiver wobble. The 15-inch free-float M-LOK handguard. The Warhammer MOD2 ambidextrous charging handle. The THRiL CCS Combat Competition Stock. Seven QD sling points. And the fact that every piece is machined and assembled in one shop in Warminster, PA rather than sourced from a dozen overseas suppliers.

At $1,295, the BR1 delivers billet construction and premium ergonomics at a price that competes with forged-receiver rifles from companies like BCM and Aero Precision.

Who should buy the BR1 Rifle?

The BR1 is built for shooters who want genuine billet quality without paying for match-grade component upgrades they may not need:

  • You want your first serious AR-15 from a precision manufacturer, but you are not ready to spend $1,775+ on a Recon Rifle. The BR1 gets you onto the 360 Precision platform at a price point that makes sense for range work, training, and home defense.
  • You shoot regularly but do not compete. The mil-spec trigger and Chrome Moly barrel are perfectly accurate for defensive distances and practical range use. You do not need a TriggerTech trigger or a stainless match barrel to put consistent groups on paper at 100 to 300 yards.
  • You want to buy a quality foundation now and upgrade individual components over time. The BR1’s barrel, trigger, and BCG can all be swapped for higher-tier parts down the road without replacing the platform. Start with a BR1 today, add a TriggerTech trigger next month, and you are halfway to a Recon Rifle at your own pace.
  • You are left-handed. The ambidextrous safety selector and charging handle are standard on the BR1, which is not the case on most rifles at this price point. Many competitors charge extra for ambi controls or do not offer them at all.

How does the BR1 compare to the Recon Rifle?

This is the most common question buyers ask, and the answer comes down to three component differences and a $480 to $680 price gap:

Barrel: The BR1 uses a Chrome Moly nitride barrel. The Recon uses a 416R stainless steel dimpled SPR barrel. The stainless barrel delivers better accuracy potential (tighter groups, more consistent velocity) and the dimpled profile improves heat dissipation during sustained fire. For most shooters at most distances, the Chrome Moly barrel is more than accurate enough. The stainless barrel matters most for precision shooting beyond 200 yards and for competition where every fraction of an MOA counts.

Trigger: The BR1 ships with a mil-spec 4.5 lb trigger. The Recon ships with a TriggerTech AR-15 Duty PVD flat trigger at 3.5 lbs. The TriggerTech has a cleaner break, shorter reset, and lower pull weight, which improves shot-to-shot consistency and follow-up speed. This is the single upgrade most BR1 owners make first, and it is the component that makes the biggest felt difference between the two rifles.

BCG: The BR1 uses an M-16 Black Nitride BCG. The Recon uses a Toolcraft DLC-coated BCG with a billet extractor. DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating is slicker than nitride, which means less friction, easier cleaning, and slightly smoother cycling. Both are reliable. The DLC is the premium option.

Everything else is the same platform: billet 7075-T6 receivers, HD15 Gen2 ambi lower, 15-inch M-LOK handguard, THRiL CCS stock, THRiL grip, Warhammer MOD2 charging handle, custom-tuned H1 buffer.

If you want billet quality today at a price that leaves room in the budget for optics and ammunition, the BR1 is the smarter buy.

Billet Lower Receiver
7075-T6 Aluminum — Ambi Safety Selector
Machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum with mil-spec phosphate lower parts and an ambidextrous 90-degree safety selector. One QD point built into the lower for versatile sling setup.
Ambi Charging Handle
Warhammer MOD2
Extended ambidextrous latch on both sides for positive one-handed charging under speed or gloves. Works equally from the left or right — no adapter required.
Billet Upper Receiver
7075-T6 Aluminum — Forward Assist or Slick Side

M-16 Bolt Carrier Group
Black Nitride Finish
Full M-16 profile BCG with a black nitride finish for corrosion resistance and smooth cycling. More surface area than a standard AR BCG means more reliable extraction under any condition.
Trigger
4.5 lb Mil-Spec
A reliable mil-spec trigger at 4.5 lbs — predictable, consistent, and durable through high round counts. Clean enough for accurate work, robust enough for the field.
15" M-LOK Handguard
Integrated Picatinny Rail — 6061-T6 Extruded Aluminum
Full-length free-float handguard with integrated M-LOK slots and a top Picatinny rail. Two QD points built in. Extruded 6061-T6 keeps it light without sacrificing rigidity.
Gas System
.750 Low Profile Block — Melonite Gas Tube — Mid-Length
Mid-length gas system with a .750 low-profile gas block and Melonite-coated gas tube. Mid-length dwell time reduces felt recoil compared to carbine-length — better control, softer shooting.
16" Chrome Moly Barrel
.223 Wylde — Nitride Finish — 1:8 Twist
Medium-contour chrome moly barrel chambered in .223 Wylde for compatibility with both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO. Nitride-finished for corrosion resistance. 1:8 twist stabilizes everything from 55gr to 77gr.
A2 Flash Hider
1/2x28 Thread — Suppressor Ready
The proven A2 flash hider reduces muzzle flash signature and provides mild recoil compensation. 1/2x28 threaded muzzle accepts suppressors and aftermarket brakes when you're ready to upgrade.
