The 360 Precision 12.5-inch Complete Upper in Anodized is a fully assembled AR-15 upper receiver group with a 12.5-inch Criterion Core Series chrome-lined barrel in .223 Wylde, finished in Black Type III Mil-Spec hard-coat anodize. It ships ready to install with every component assembled and headspaced: barrel, Toolcraft DLC-coated BCG, Warhammer ambidextrous charging handle, 11.75-inch M-LOK handguard with Case Hardened QD Cups, carbine-length gas system, and 360 Precision Vector-3 muzzle brake.

This is the anodized version of the 12.5-inch complete upper. The Cerakote version uses the same Criterion barrel, BCG, and billet receiver with a custom Cerakote color finish instead of black anodize. Both are the same price ($1,069 to $1,089), so the choice between them is purely about whether you want black or a custom color.

Drop it onto any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower, add your optic, and you are shooting. No FFL required. Upper receivers are not serialized firearms and ship directly to your door.

Who should buy this upper?

This upper makes sense if:

  • You want the Criterion barrel and billet upper receiver quality without paying for a Cerakote finish you do not need. If black works for your build, the anodized version delivers the same internals at the same price with a proven, no-nonsense military-standard finish.
  • You are building a compact .223 Wylde / 5.56 NATO AR pistol or SBR and want the 12.5-inch barrel length for better ballistics than 10.3 or 11.5-inch alternatives. The Criterion CORE chrome-lined barrel gives you duty-grade accuracy and the barrel longevity that chrome lining provides under high round counts.
  • You plan to have the upper Cerakoted later through a third-party applicator or through 360 Precision’s Cerakoting service. Starting with anodize gives you a functioning upper now with the option to add a custom finish down the road.

What sets this apart from other 12.5″ complete uppers on the market

Three things differentiate this upper from the BCM, Aero Precision, and PSA complete uppers that dominate the 12.5-inch category:

The barrel. Criterion Core Series chrome-lined. Most complete uppers in this price range use generic chrome moly or government-profile barrels from unnamed manufacturers. Criterion is one of the few barrel makers whose name alone commands respect in the AR-15 community, and the Core Series sits above most competitors’ “premium” barrel offerings. Chrome lining adds barrel longevity under the kind of round counts that duty use and regular training demand.

The receiver. Billet 7075-T6, CNC-machined from solid stock. Most competing uppers at this price use forged receivers. Billet machining holds tighter tolerances, produces a more precise barrel extension fit, and creates the sharp lines and clean geometry that forging cannot replicate.

The charging handle. The Warhammer ambidextrous charging handle. Most complete uppers ship with a mil-spec charging handle (single sided) or a budget ambi unit. The Warhammer is a popular aftermarket charging handle in the AR-15 market, and it is included here rather than being a $75 add-on.

At $1,069 to $1,089, this complete upper receiver set may cost more than an Aero Precision 12.5-inch upper ($500 to $600) and roughly the same as a BCM 12.5-inch upper ($800 to $1,000 depending on configuration). The difference is the Criterion barrel, billet receiver, and the Ambi-Warhammer Charging Handle that are included rather than being aftermarket upgrades.

What you need to pair with this upper

Already own a lower? Drop this upper onto it. If your lower has a trigger, grip, buffer assembly, and stock or brace installed, you are ready to shoot.

Need a complete lower? Our complete lower receiver ships with everything installed. Pair it with this upper for a functioning rifle in two pieces.

Starting from scratch? A stripped HD15 Gen2 lower plus your choice of trigger, grip, buffer, and stock. The HD15 Gen2’s integrated tension screw pairs with this billet upper for a zero-wobble fit.

You will also need an optic, magazine, and ammunition. For optics, our precision rifle scopes include models that pair well with builds at this level.
