The 360 Precision Recon Rifle is a 16-inch .223 Wylde semi-automatic AR-15 designed to be the most versatile rifle in the lineup. It sits between the BR1 ($1,295) and the Evolution Competition Rifle ($2,575+) as the all-around platform built for range shooting, home defense, duty use, and occasional competition without being locked into any single role.

The Recon is built around a 416R stainless steel dimpled barrel in an SPR contour with a 1:8 twist, paired with a TriggerTech 3.5 lb flat trigger and a Toolcraft DLC-coated BCG. These three components are what separate the Recon from the BR1 and from most competitors at this price point. The billet 7075-T6 HD15 Gen2 ambidextrous receivers, 15-inch M-LOK handguard, adjustable gas block, and Fortis hardware are the same platform underneath every 360 Precision rifle.

Who should buy the Recon Rifle?

The Recon is the right choice if you want one rifle that handles multiple roles without compromise:

• You need a general-purpose precision AR-15 that is accurate enough for 300+ yard steel, reliable enough for defensive use, and well-built enough to hold up to regular training. The Recon does all three.

If budget is the priority, the BR1 delivers the same billet platform at $480 to $680 less. If competition is the priority, the Evolution adds the ARCA handguard and White Oak barrel for $800 more. The Recon is the middle of the lineup because it serves the widest range of shooters.

Why the 416R stainless dimpled barrel?

The barrel is the most important accuracy component on any rifle, and the Recon’s barrel is where the price difference over the BR1 earns its value.

416R stainless steel is the preferred barrel material for precision rifle builders because it machines to tighter tolerances than chrome moly, resists corrosion better, and maintains accuracy across higher round counts. It is the same steel grade used by Criterion, Bartlein, and other premium barrel manufacturers. Chrome moly (used on the BR1) is reliable and durable, but stainless holds a consistent bore diameter and surface finish longer.

The dimpled SPR contour serves two functions. First, the dimples reduce barrel weight compared to a smooth barrel of the same diameter, making the rifle faster to shoulder and easier to hold on target during offhand and positional shooting. Second, the increased surface area from the dimples improves heat dissipation. On a 20-round competition stage or a high-volume training drill, the barrel cools faster between strings, which means it returns to cold-bore accuracy sooner.

The 1:8 twist rate stabilizes the full range of .223 and 5.56 bullet weights from 55 to 77 grains, giving you the flexibility to run lightweight training ammunition and heavy match loads through the same barrel without stability issues.

How does the Recon compare to the BR1?

The barrel and trigger are the upgrades that make a measurable difference at the range. The stainless barrel delivers tighter groups with match ammunition.
