The 360 Precision 15-inch M-LOK Handguard is a free-float AR-15 handguard machined from 6061-T6 extruded aluminum with a full-length Picatinny rail at 12 o’clock and M-LOK accessory slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. It ships with the proprietary barrel nut included and is the same handguard installed on the Recon Rifle, BR1 Rifle, and every builder set with a 15-inch forend.

Free-float means the handguard attaches to the upper receiver via the barrel nut and does not contact the barrel at any point. Any pressure applied to the handguard (from a bipod, barricade, sling tension, or your grip) stays on the handguard and does not transfer to the barrel. This is one of the most effective accuracy improvements you can make on an AR-15 because it eliminates point-of-impact shift caused by external forces on the barrel.

At $225 with barrel nut included, this is the standalone version for builders who are sourcing their own stripped upper receiver rather than buying a builder set or complete upper (where the handguard is already included).

Who should buy this handguard?

This handguard is for builders assembling an upper from individual parts:

• You bought a stripped 360 Precision billet upper receiver and need the matching handguard. This is the one that was designed alongside the billet upper. The barrel nut threads onto any Mil-Spec upper receiver threads, but the fit and finish were optimized for the 360 Precision billet upper.
• You are replacing a handguard on an existing AR-15 and want to upgrade to a full-length free-float design with M-LOK. The 15-inch length covers most 16-inch barrels completely (the muzzle device extends past the handguard), giving you maximum rail space for accessories.
• You want to add ARCA rail capability to your rifle. The M-LOK slots on the bottom accept any of our Low Profile ARCA Rails in 5.1″, 9″, or 13″ lengths for bipod, tripod, and barricade clamp mounting.
• You already own a builder set or complete upper from 360 Precision and need a replacement handguard due to damage, or want a second handguard for a different build.

Free-float vs. drop-in: why it matters

Most factory AR-15 rifles under $700 ship with drop-in handguards that clamp around the barrel and rest against the delta ring and handguard cap. This design is simple and affordable, but it creates a direct mechanical connection between the handguard and barrel. Squeeze the handguard, lean it against a barricade, or load a bipod, and that force transmits to the barrel. The barrel flexes, and the point of impact shifts.

A free-float handguard like this one eliminates that connection. The handguard bolts to the barrel nut on the upper receiver and cantilevers forward over the barrel without touching it. You can clamp a bipod to the handguard, rest it on concrete, or white-knuckle the forend, and the barrel does not know the difference. Zero point-of-impact shift from external pressure.

If you are building a rifle for accuracy at distance (beyond 100 yards with any regularity), a free-float handguard is not optional. It is the baseline. Every serious precision, competition, and duty AR-15 uses one.

M-LOK accessory mounting

M-LOK is the attachment standard used across the majority of the AR-15 aftermarket. Accessories mount by inserting a T-nut through the M-LOK slot and tightening a screw from the outside. No Picatinny rail segments needed. No added weight from unused rail sections.

The 15-inch handguard has M-LOK slots at 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions. Common accessories that mount via M-LOK include:

• ARCA rails for bipod and tripod mounting
• Weapon lights and light mounts (SureFire, Modlite, Arisaka, Cloud Defensive)
• Laser/IR designators
• Hand stops and barricade stops
• Angled foregrips
• Rail covers and grip panels
• Sling mounts and QD sockets

The 12 o’clock Picatinny rail runs the full length of the handguard for optic mounts, iron sights, and any Picatinny-mounted accessory.

Barrel nut compatibility

This handguard uses the 360 Precision proprietary barrel nut, which is included with every purchase. The barrel nut threads onto standard AR-15/M4 upper receiver threads (1 3/16″-16 TPI).

If you are installing this handguard on a 360 Precision billet upper receiver, the fit is designed to be seamless. If you are installing it on a non-360 Precision upper (Aero Precision, BCM, Anderson, or other Mil-Spec upper), the barrel nut will thread on and function correctly as long as the upper uses standard AR-15 barrel nut threads.

Do not attempt to use a different manufacturer’s barrel nut with this handguard. The handguard mounting interface is designed specifically for the included barrel nut.
