The 360 Precision HD15 Cerakote Upper Receiver is the same CNC-machined billet 7075-T6 upper receiver as the anodized version, finished with a custom Cerakote ceramic coating applied in-house at 360 Precision’s Warminster, PA facility. Cerakote provides enhanced corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance beyond standard anodizing, and it opens up the full range of 360 Precision’s custom color options.

360 Precision is a Master Certified Cerakote applicator, meaning the coating process meets Cerakote’s highest standards for surface preparation, application thickness, and cure temperature. This is the same Cerakote process used on every complete 360 Precision rifle.

Who should buy the Cerakote upper instead of the anodized?

Both finishes protect the receiver. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the surface aluminum into a hard oxide layer. Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating sprayed onto the surface and then oven-cured. Here is how they compare:

• Corrosion resistance: Cerakote outperforms anodizing in salt spray and chemical exposure tests.
• Abrasion resistance: Both are durable, but Cerakote tends to resist scratching from holsters, cases, and hard use slightly better.
• Color options: Anodizing is limited to black (and occasionally FDE). Cerakote opens up dozens of color options including FDE, Carbon Gray, Elite Blackout, Broken Glass Bronze, Battleworn patterns, and custom camo.
• Cost: Cerakote adds cost. If you want the most affordable option and standard black is fine, the anodized version saves money.

If your build requires a specific color to match other components or you want maximum environmental protection, go Cerakote. If black works and budget matters, go anodized.

What colors are available in Cerakote? 

Cerakote colors available at checkout typically include FDE (Flat Dark Earth), Carbon Gray, Elite Blackout, and other commonly requested options. 360 Precision can also apply custom Cerakote colors not listed at checkout. For multi-color finishes (Battleworn two-tone, ETC camo, custom camo patterns), these are available on our builder sets and complete rifles. Individual receivers are typically finished in a single color. Contact us if you need a multi-color application on a standalone upper.

Matching your upper to other components

The cleanest way to get a color-matched receiver set is to buy a builder set or receiver set, which includes both the upper and lower finished in the same Cerakote batch. If you are buying the upper separately and want it to match a lower you already own, let us know at the time of order and we will match as closely as possible.

If you already own components that need Cerakote applied or refreshed, our Cerakoting service handles individual parts. Send us your existing upper, lower, handguard, or other components, and we will coat them in-house to match your build.
